And today was the first up day on anything resembling significant volume, I think we may be looking at a few sessions of good upside moves. I still think you want to be positioned for a retest of january lows, but with the ability to take advantage of upside swings.

The pipe botom on the DJIA chart was played by many. The breakout from this current and very tight consolidation has the potential to be significant.
Same poattern is setting up in many big stocks. Opportunities everywhere. Long term outlook is bearish (to me), as I also see a re-test of lows...with more serious long term effects. Time will tell.

Not realizing as to what it means, but I have seen this pattern becoming more frequent with some of the stocks I'm following... Let's hope it has a positive swing.
"Poattern" that's one for the urbandictionary.com.. Poetic... I like... ![]()

I take advantage of these patterns (sym triangle) intra-day when they appear. They are very easy to calculate as I've posted in some of the triangle threads. Break can go either way, but are usually (relatively) explosive when they occur. Downward breakouts are usually faster and more explosive. Take your profits when the target is hit or narrow that stop quickly because the move can get pretty volatile. Don't forget to consider support and resistance levels.
Take a look at COV and see how it performs over the next few days. If it reacts in the manner as above, it will be a good tool for analysis of money management, entry/exit, and risk/reward.

Maybe the favorable patent ruling today will give COV the umph needed to set it off.
SOHU is one I've been watching... Just curious, was "poattern" a type O or did you really mean that... honestly, I read it as a positive or potential pattern.
