Best broker for scalping?

Hi all,

I've been trying my hand at trading (scalping in particular) for a year and a half, trading Nasdaq stocks. I was wondering if you could help me find the best broker to use for scalping. Which broker would be most suitable for scalping both from a technical and commission standpoint, considering I will be doing lots of intraday trades?

Also, are Naz stocks the most suitable candidates for scalping trading or can you suggest any other market I should try out?

thanks

Hi rookie,

from a commission standpoint, I would definitly suggest you give Interactive Brokers a try, if you haven't already. In addition to hard to beat cheap commissions, they offer a wide range of markets you can trade, both US and international. The platform is nothing fancy, but they are worth a try, IMHO.

regards,

Isn't X_Trader for futures only? Rookie said he trades Nasdaq stocks.

IB platform is no bells and whistels, but their rock bottom commish make it worthwile considering IMHO.

you're right. My bad. I assumed he was talking about scalping in general. X_Trader is for futures only. In that case, since he's asking whether there are other markets he should try out besides nasdaq, I suggest he tries futures!

I heard good things about Genesis' Laser platform from scalpers. They are a prop firm though, but I believe they also offer retail accounts. What are you looking for exactly? A broker (low commission etc) or a good scalping platform (features, connectvity, etc), or BOTH?

actually, a balanced solution would be best. I don't think you can make a good scalper just by having low commish, and I'm sure the opposite is also true. So a solution balancing the two needs would be best.

thanks

yes, Genesis platform is well known among the Naz scalpers population. They have become quite competitive on NYSE trading as well. You can find them here http://www.gndt.com/index.htm

if you are a true scalper, software is WAAAAYYYY more important than the broker.

thanks for your suggestions. Genesis' Laser seem to be a good enough platform worth trying. I already contacted them and I'm planning to give it a try on a retail account.
