Best city to start as a trader

hello,

was wondering what would the best city to start as a trader be. I guess it would be NY for equities trading and maybe Chicago for commodities trading…to all accomplished traders: where did you start out as a brand new trader? And why? Was it for the training? Or just the overall atmosphere? and looking back now, how much would you say it affected your trading results?

thanks

yes NY or Chicago are definitely the best cities to start as a trader. NY is a lot more expensive than Chicago though. So you might wanna take that into account. Once you get profitable, you can consider moving to nicer locations like FL which, by the way, does not have state income taxes!

this might sound obvious but….do you plan on trading from an office? Cause otherwise it would make very little difference where you do your trading…..

I would pick a city on the West coast. You start trading early in the morning and after 1 PM when the markets close on the East coast, you have most of the day still in front of you.....

in my opinion, NY is the best place where you can start as a trader. A lot of trading firms to choose from, great training, great atmosphere. I would never choose anything but NY if I had to do it all again.
