"Every age has its peculiar folly; some scheme, project, or phantasy into which i plunges, spurred on either by the love of gain, the necessity of excitement, or the mere force of imitation. Failing in these, it has some madness, to which it is goaded by monetary, political, or religious causes, or all combined." - Charles Mackay

Trading provides one of the last great frontiers of opportunity in our economy. It is one of the very few ways in which an individual can start with a relatively small bankroll and actually become a multimillionaire.
Of course, only a handful of individuals succeed in turning this feat, but at least the opportunity exists.
A rigid stop-loss rule

“Life is nothing more than a series of bets and bets are really nothing more than questions and their answers. There is no real difference between, “Should I take another hit on this Blackjack hand?” and “Should I get out of the way of that speeding and wildly careening bus?” Each shares two universal truths: a set of probabilities of potential outcomes and the singular outcome that takes place. Everyday we place hundreds if not thousands of bets - large and small, some seemingly well considere

Ed Seykota, the worlds greatest trader pound for pound in my opinion...has his own music video. It may be a bit out of the ordinary, but still entertaining and extremely educational to say the least.

12 Practical Steps for Learning to Go With the Flow
by Leo Babauta of Zenhabits.net
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” - Lao-Tzu
No matter how much structure we create in our lives, no matter how many good habits we build, there will always be things that we cannot control — and if we let them, these things can be a huge source of anger, f

Another lesson I learned early is that there is nothing new in Wall Street. There can't be because speculation is as old as the hills. Whatever happens in the stock market today has happened before and will happen again.
I told you I had ten thousand dollars when I was twenty, and my margin on that Sugar deal was over ten thousand. But I didn't always win. My plan of trading was sound enough and won oftener than it lost. If I had stuck to it I'd have been right perhaps as often as seven out

"Trading and investing are very simple processes and we human beings try to make it into something much more complex. Unfortunately, we have a lot of biases that enter into trading decisions."
"I believe people get exactly what they want out of the markets and most people are afraid of success or failure. As a result, they tend to resist change and continue to follow their natural biases and lose in the markets. When you get rid of the fear, you tend to get rid of the biases."

Stephen Hawking's Quotations

He is widely considered to be among the most intelligent people living today. Here is what he has to say...
10. "Einstein was wrong when he said "God does not play dice". Consideration of black holes suggests, not only that God does play dice, but that He sometimes confuses us by throwing them where they can't be seen."
9. "I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it

Age is only a number, a cipher for the records. A man can't retire his experience. He must use it. Experience achieves more with less energy and time.

The Greek philosopher Archilochus tells us, the fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one great thing. The fox -- artful, sly and astute -- represents the financial institution that knows many things about complex markets and sophisticated marketing. The hedgehog -- whose sharp spines give it almost impregnable armor when it curls into a ball -- is the financial institution that knows only one great thing: long-term investment success is based on simplicity. - John Bogle

I've decided to share with the forum an aha moment i had this past monday. i dont remember exactly what i was doing at the time, but i came to the conclusion that life, from cradle to the grave, is all about making decisions. if you think about it, your body makes decisions via your sub-conscience (e.g. breathing and cell growth) while our conscience brain makes decisions and choices everyday that can affect our non-existant future. if this is true, then making the right conscience decisions

I caught the better half of a magic show on television last night and came to the notion that magic is alot like trading...
Many people love the mystery that surrounds magic. People want to be fooled and mesmorized by complex tricks. After which, they all want to know the secret of how its done. Once they find out how simple the illusion really is; they criticize it and begin searching for the next "big phenomenal act." People simply want to believe. Is there anything wrong with that?
