Do you keep your TV on while trading?

do you keep your tv on while trading? If yes, which channel do you watch? CNBC, Bloomberg, or? Do you keep it on just to keep you company or as a "market direction" tool? Do you follow tv stock advice?

i find that analysts can never agree to disagree. all have different opinions that can be confusing to a trader.
earnings reports can be manipulated, truths become lies, lies become truths...etc. taking the advice of media gurus and analysts is very contradictory to making your own decisions based on what price is showing you. markets will always trend up, down, or sideways no matter what the news tells you. you can research this via backtesting.
for instance...a few years back...the media (analysts) were telling everyone to buy ENRON even though the price was at a reversal. those who followed the trend down by being short made loads of dough...those who stayed long on the stock lost thier a**.

anyways...to make a long story short...i personally do not watch the news; however, if i have nothing else better to do than watch my positions during the day, i ususally just watch reruns of south park and andy griffith. i place my trades in the evening well after the stock market closes, takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

CNBC here. I remember traders in late 90s say that stocks mentioned on TV used to get a temporary boost.

I have CNBC on most of the time just in case some big event occurs but I get to the point where I hardly hear it.

Couldn't agree more with breakout, as for news and staying up to date on worldly affairs, RTTNews desktop alert, Free. During the day it's Itunes radio, delivers everything. Oh yeah, it's free too.
