investing in domain names
is anybody investing in domain names at all? Been following Sedo auctions at www.sedo.com a lot, and keeping track of recent domain sales at http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm. It looks like there may be some good money to be made investing in quality domains.
take a look, for example, at poker.de, which recently sold for a whopping $957,937! Ok, poker is a nice keyword domain to have, but it's not even a top level .com domain......any ideas? | |

it can be done. But at that profit level you are talking about, you have to invest some nice money first, in order to get the few quality names that haven't already been taken.
Unfortunately, almost 100% of single word domains have already been registered. Quality TLDs such as .com, .net, .org are the first ones to go of course. anything lower than that greatly affects your overall domain resell value. In other words, forget about registering the next men.com for $6 at godaddy and reselling it for millions after one year.

domain investing is cool but I think buying domains and actually developing them into websites is even cooler. Take a look at the biggest websites around: google, ebay, yahoo, etc. they are all made up names. They don't contain any real word keywords. still, they are the big money makers. That's where the money is, IMHO.

developing websites is definitely more interesting than flipping domains. But flipping domains is definitely easier and less time consuming than the former one. I would go with domain flipping. .EU looks very promising….

.EU domain registration seem to be open to .EU residents only. Too bad!

a nice website I found is http://www.nameboy.com/. Nameboy lets you pick two keywords of your choice which will then be combined and checked against already registered domains. It's a nice tool to help you choose the best name for your new website!
