Investing in timber as an alternative investment?

I'm considering investing in timber and forestry products as an alternative investment asset class to add to my investment portfolio. Australian bank Macquarie Bank offers some very interesting timber investments. Does anybody have any experience with them? or with any timber investments in general?

I read the Macquarie prospectus. It's an interesting way of looking at timber as an alternative investment. Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

instead of doing it through a fund, you could also buy acres of heavily wooded land, and let professional timber cutters come and harvest the land in pieces, for a fee. That could potentially make you 15-20% or more a year after year.
