im assuming that you are trading short term options. im not making any recommendations...but if your interested in that particular area...you might want to check out the following sites.

http://www.options-inc.com/free_tools/index.html

http://www.schaeffersresearch.com/st...n_montage.aspx

also, if your into black-scholes option pricing models...you can program the formula into microsoft excel on the cheap. there are places on the web that show you how and may even have it for you for download for free.

since i used to be into all this stuff at one time, i find it neccessary to provide a word of caution for all that read this post. do as much research as you possibly can on these option methods before you place trades. be willing to check the other side of the coin; for example, these methods were the same modus operandi of Long Term Capital Management...do a search on this particular hedge fund and you'll see how they faired.

there may be other ways to approach options that can help you psychologically, dont give up the search.

good luck

thanks for the interesting links, leth. yes, I know about the LTCM demise. that is why I'm planning on doing extensive research on options before putting real money on them. thanks again for your tips.

you could always open an account with Thinkorswim and use their platform tools. Just a thought….

I use Peter Hoadley's Option Strategy Analysis package.
This is an Excel add-in

The basic package is free. I bought the upgrade for AU$99 and have no regrets. If you understand even 80% of all the bells and whistles that are built in to this package, you will have an excellent understanding of how options work.

Here's a link.
