Rating on Bright Trading
I've always wanted to consider trading as my long term career. For the past few months I've done lots of research on prop shops and decided to go with Bright Trading. I am wondering if anyone here is currently (or knows someone) trading with Bright and what their opinions are about Bright? Thanks a million.

I traded shortly at their NYC office back in 2003. I wasn't too impressed though. At that time I was trying several prop shops and opted for another major player in the industry (which I won't mention here).
Don't get me wrong though. Bright Trading is a highly reputable firm in the field. Thing is, in the proprietary trading world, unless you trade from the company headquarters whether a particular office is worthy of consideration highly depends on its manager. Do they offer training besides competitive deals? this is one of the questions you should ask. | |

as protrader said, new traders should meet with the local office managers where they will be trading from, in addition to researching the firm. That is the only way to really "feel" the office atmosphere and find out whether they offer training or are willing to help you out rather than just having you sit in the office and churn.

I once interviewed with the managing partners of a well known prop shop, liked them very much and was 100% sure I would go with them. Then, I visited their local office where I would do most of my trading and decided I didn't want to go with them anymore.
