Recent market weakness and 1983 bull market

On Wed the indices had their largest new year loss since 1983. the Dow lost more than 200 points. It would be interesting to take a look at how markets fared from 1983 on. If history repeats itself....

good post BC. i also want to add that i really like that chart. for history's sake, you can definately see the october 87 market crash. charts sure do put things in perspective.....makes you feel like you were there.

Measured as a percentage a 200 point swing isn't as alarming as it once was.

I guess absolute numbers rather than percentages are more psychological in nature...
