Trading at Home

I have been trading out of my home office for three years now and you couldn't get me to go to an office. The freedom it affords me outweighs any of the negatives by a mile.
I get up in the morning at 5 grab a coffee and turn on CNBC. The wife and kids are out by 7 and it's just me and the cat. I like the zen aspect of home trading and couldn't care less that nobody else is around. If I need company there are a couple good trader chat rooms that I can participate in. I don't need other traders around for input, that would be more distracting than the occasional UPS guy or Jehova's witness. I guess I am pretty focused because more than once the housekeepers have come in and cleaned and I didn't know they were in the house.
I am more into having the freedom to put whatever I want on the TV or Radio, dress in sweats and a Tee Shirt, shave or not etc. And if I want to just bail on the day and play golf, I can. I have never traded from an office or for anyone as an employee so I don't know what benefits there are to that, other than the obvious access to mentoring which isn't available at home.

hello aiki,

it's good to have you here. I myself trade from home. Trying to get me to trade from an office, though, to see how it feels. It surely has its advantages (being around other traders, mentoring, etc) but as you said, you can also achieve that by participating in chat rooms and the like. we'll see.
