US real estate - is it time to start grabbing some?
do you think it's a good time to start dumping some money in US real estate yet? US home prices have dropped quite a bit from their all-time highs. In addition, thanks to the sub-prime disaster, you can also consider grabbing some real estate going up for auction. But has the US real estate market bottomed yet? some are predicting the recent downturn in US real estate will continue until 2010 or even later.

I don't think it's about time to start jumping on US real estate yet. I think the current trend will continue for another 2-3 years. This is just my best guess, of course. Economic trends are always very hard to time precisely

it depends on your investment outlook. If you wan to get into real estate for the long term, meaning basically want to acquire properties to buy and hold, then any time is the right time. Once you understand this, you can try and time your entry to get the best bang for your buck. still if you have a 20-30 year outlook, it really doesn't make that much of a difference whether you save $10K on a property price tag or not. if, on the other hand, you are getting into real estate to flip properties back and forth, you will have to do some homework.

I also read somewhere that no relief should be expected in the real estate markets until 2010 or even later.
